OK, you've been warned.
This is an original item from the original Saturn label, made when Sun Ra and Alton Abraham ran the label. This is NOT a reissue. This is one of two variations with large green type on the left that says "SUN RA Discipline 27-II." This one says "Secrets of the Sun" on the back cover, and includes the poem "Flight." There is a second version, with the same front cover, that omits the poem as well as "Secrets of the Sun."
This features cover art by LeRoy Butler and is a quintessential example of Afrofuturist graphics, and is thus suitable for framing, even in museum shows!
Sun Ra's album covers on the original Saturn label are as coveted as the vinyl itself. Unfortunately, with some of his titles there are more vinyl floating around than jackets. This is a rare chance to remedy the situation, especially since there are a number of copies of this record floating around with generic covers.
Once again, no lp comes with this. Jacket only! All seams are in tact. Some light storage marks more noticeable on back (see photos).
In addition to the two covers mentioned above, there is an entirely different front cover for this same album, "Discipline 27-II" (offered in another auction). This cover says "Sun Ra' only on cover in a smaller entirely different typeface, without the title, and omits the record number. Cover art is similar, though slightly bluer. And there are at least two variations of this cover as well (so Saturn released at least four different original cover variations of this lp).
