PLEURE SUR NOUS / TU NE VOIS JAMAIS LE VENT / LES ENFANTS QUI ATTENDENT NOEL / JE SUIS BIEN LA MEME ... 7-inch, 45rpm EP single by SÉVERINE orchestra and production by JEAN-CLAUDE VANNIER. Original French pressing on PHILIPS label (437.486 BE), from 1969. Superb French pop release by the cult mod girl singer (real name Josiane Grizeau aka Céline before a change of name to Séverine ;) For us, maybe her finest moment on wax for DJs. Features the Wizzz! cum Swinging Mademoiselle style JE SUIS BIEN LA MEME club tune, actually a killer cover version of Barbara Acklin’s Am I The Same Girl (a northern soul anthem played-out by DJ Dean Johnson etc) which was basically Barbara singing over the Young Holt Unlimited - Soulful Strut masterpiece. For Severine's version, expect infectious French vocals and "cooing" harmony backing over psychedelic soul orchestrations by the legendary Jean-Claude Vannier :) A delicious mix of groovy yéyé / sexy chanson and funky lounge. Big drums / driving fender bass / clipped guitars and joyous horn section propel the main theme. We have also recorded the other trax on this EP to showcase the musical dexterity of Vannier in a "pop" setting. Booming production on this 7-inch too. Sleeve artwork shows the singer in classic publicity pose. Rare EP!!!

Vinyl is in strong VG+ condition with faint hairlines / light scuffs. Some light surface noises in the higher register in places but quite common as due to the actual pressing. Booming production sound. Some soft pops / soft ticks in other places (as you can hear on our soundclip). The half laminated flipback card picture sleeve is in strong VG++ condition overall regardless of the ring wear / ring dirt marks and faded pen writing to back sleeve. Sharp corners with a touch of wear in places. A few laminate crease lines to front sleeve. No languette. Rare EP!!!
