Pretty fantastic original native land copy of a rare Dutch psych album. Released over here on Page One but this is the original Dutch version on Relax, same tracks as the rare UK version. Hard edged pop psych with moody arrangements, English vocals throughout, great dark version of “Don’t let me be Misunderstood”, ex-radio station in great condition, after all can you really imagine music like this being played on the radio?

Sleeve:

Standard single sleeve design, laminated on the front only, no manufacturer’s name given.

The front sleeve is in fine condition, This record was bought from a radio station so has been well cared for throughout it’s lifetime and unusually this radio station did not plaster it’s sleeve’s with unremovable stickers. Consequently the front sleeve is in very nice shape indeed, it’s a very dark design which would show any marks immediately but this is very clean with no writing or tears anywhere. There are a couple of very light small creases about half way down the open edge but these are nothing serious and if handled properly in the future shouldn’t get any worse. The lamination is clear and bright producing a nice reflection, no bubbling anywhere nor does it look dull and tired like so many sleeve’s of this age, a really nice clean example.

The unlaminated rear sleeve is in equally impressive shape. Extremely clean with no tears or creases anywhere, the only flaw is in the top left corner where a 6 digit reference number has been written discreetly in red biro. That number apart the rear is as good as you could possibly hope for.

The spine is as it should be, it’s a lot narrower than UK spines of this vintage and there is no writing on it. There is one small spot of wear but if there were any writing then it would all be completely readable.

The top seam is totally unworn.

The bottom seam is also totally unworn.

Record:

Visually the record looks just great, under normal light the only mark visible is a small light scratch on side one track one, this is about 1cm in length and there’s no escaping it, this is a scratch, but I’ve played that track three times in the last half hour on two different decks (one Project and one Linn LP12) and I can report that on my deck’s there is no noise at all from this scratch. However, I obviously cannot guarantee that this mark will not sound on your deck so if you have any worries about this then please do not bid, I’m being open and telling you that the mark is there and that it definitely doesn’t sound on my decks but if you have concerns I’d prefer you not bid at all rather than end up with a record that you’re disappointed with.

When held under a very revealing, very harsh lamp the record looks just as good as under ambient light. That small scratch is obviously still visible but other than that the only marks visible are a couple of extremely light hairlines caused by taking the record in and out of it’s sleeve which are completely inaudible.

Both labels are very clean but both have stickers on them, semi-circular in shape placed on the left hand side so not to obscure any of the writing. I actually bought a lot of records from the same source as this one and all had similar stickers, I have tried to remove these stickers (on other records, not this one) and had problems doing so, usually the result was a torn label so I’ve left both of these untouched. The stickers have been placed so that pretty much all of the writing on the labels is clearly readable.

When played the record just sounds great with a clean clear sound across the full dynamic range. There is no unwanted surface noise present at all for the full length of both sides (including across that small scratch),no groove wear and no distortion anywhere, obviously a barely played copy of a great late sixties LP.

So, not a perfect copy, instead a barely played copy from a good home which has been well cared for but still has some small flaws, there is a number written on the rear sleeve, stickers on both labels and a small visible but inaudible scratch on track one, if any of these bother you then please do not bid but if you want a great sounding and looking original Dutch copy of this excellent album than look no further.
