Description

Dead easy to find on Orange CBS right? Well, yeah.
1st Matrix - A1/B1 ... yup. BUT they re-used that 1st cut for years... It means practically NOTHING.
So, what do we look for to guarantee a summer 1969 copy? Well, to get there are a few clues to hunt down. Firstly, they spent a bit of time getting the publishing credit sorted. You will find early copies make a lot of mention of 'Copy Control' on both sides - these are the early copies before they start allocating publishing. The early copies from summer 1969 should have more in common with the pressing weight of sixties - they should be pressed heavy [like this example]. They should also come housed in an Upton printed front laminated cover. This doesn't sound like that much of a big deal, but I can assure you, 1st issue covers are WAY sturdier than the flimsy crap they pumped out just a few months later. We also have the correct CBS inner from the time so 100% genuine 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex) In super condition and has only seen light careful use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of lightest marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback with one slight and brief deviation. When you find a proper early 1st you'll realise - THIS is the real deal. Excellent audio close onto those masters from a proper solid CBS pressing. The audio is fabbo. Clean into those percussive trippy moments. A few isolated crackles in the super fussy quietest moments of TREAT. Still better than most copies would manage on this track. But otherwise absolutely superb!
Cover (Vg+) Not quite up to the standard, but remember - this is a true 1st issue. Just holding it you know holding onto a properly made sixties copy. A relatively unaged front - not perfect but impressive. A couple of minor thumbnails that's all. The rear usually gets heavily worn. To be fair this example is looking pretty spritely - certainly better than you typically find. Relatively little edge wear and firm openings. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) A bit aged. A 1.c.m. bottom edge split.
