Scarce 1972 Spooner Oldham Rock LP (Pot Luck)
Spooner Oldham – “Pot Luck” (Family Productions 2703). Dewey Lindon "Spooner" Oldham is a songwriter and session musician. As an organist, he recorded in Muscle Shoals, Alabama and at FAME Studios on such hit R&B songs as "When a Man Loves a Woman" by Percy Sledge, "Mustang Sally" by Wilson Pickett and "I Never Loved a Man" by Aretha Franklin. As a songwriter, he teamed with Dan Penn to write such hits as "Cry Like a Baby" (The Box Tops), "I'm Your Puppet" (James and Bobby Purify), "A Woman Left Lonely" and "It Tears Me Up" (Percy Sledge). This scarce 1972 LP was issued on Gulf + Western’s short-lived Family Productions label and features Oldham on the following cuts” “The Lord Loves a Rolling Stone”, “1980”, “”Life’s Little Package of Puzzles”, “Julie Brown’s Forest”, “Easy Listening”, “Profile (Medley) ‘When a Man Loves a Woman (the Way That I Love You)’/ ‘I Never Loved a Man (the Way I Love you)’/ ‘Kentucky Grass’/ ‘Cry like a Baby’/’Respect’/”the New World’/ and ‘My Friend’”, and “Will the Circle Be Unbroken”. Cut-out. Record is in M- condition and cover is in VG+ condition. Postage will be paid by purchaser.
