Description

Karl Ulrich Schnabel -
Mendelssohn SONATA IN E MAJOR &
Schubert WALTZES, LANDLER, & GERMAN DANCES - Sheffield S-8 –
STUNNING!

Make no mistake, the early Sheffield recordings -- among them the Thomas Murray organ records and this from Schnabel -- are among the finest ever produced, and done way before Sheffield decided to go direct-to-disc.

This particular edition was recorded in 1967 by Lincoln Mayorga and mastered in the transfer by Doug Sax.  It is, in a word, "stunning."

But, I warn you, because of the headroom allowed and the complete and utter naturalness of the recording, you MUST find the proper “size” via volume in your listening room.

If you do not -- and many audiophiles do not -- this record will sound dull and rather small and uninteresting.  That, in fact, it comes into complete bloom when you have it just right, will astound you, as the acoustic will simply transform your listening room into the original hall.

I mean that, every ounce of it as visual a picture as exists on vinyl.

This fine prize has a cover without major fault, save for some yellowing with age.  Record within should play near mint.

Simply a beautiful LP, recorded as naturally as can be had.

For other fine records, TAS picks and hard-to-finds, please see my complete list of offerings here on eBay.

Shipping and handling is $5 for up to 5 LPs shipped within the States.  Internationally, $14 via airmail for the first LP, $3 each thereafter.  (Canada is half that.)  Boxes over 4 lbs., add another $5, because First Class is no longer available at that weight, just Priority Mail.  Note, too, boxed sets of LPs require more postage.
