Notes (courtesy of Discogs)
This is the initial pressing of SPUNK. Rush-released before 'Never Mind The Bollocks' in the U.K. in early October 1977, this edition in just a plain white sleeve with matte off-white labels printed in pink and with purple text. Some first editions were sold in one of a variety of sleeves, either hand made by the label, distributor or retailer. The inner sleeve is the same used as for NMTB a few days later!
A1-5 are demos recorded by Dave Goodman in July 1976
A6 is the rejected Dave Goodman produced version of the band's debut single Anarchy In The U.K., recorded in October 1976
B1-6 are demos recorded by Dave Goodman in January 1977
Most songs are mistitled on sleeve and labels:
A2 as "Satelite"
A3 as "Feelings"
A4 as "Just Me"
A6 as "Nookie"
B1 as "No Future" (which was the original title at the time of recording)
B3 as "Lots Of Fun"
B5 as "Who Was It"
B6 as "New York (Looking For A Kiss)"
"initially released without a sleeve in a rush to beat 'Never Mind The Bollocks' to the shops." (Gavin Walsh: "God Save The Sex Pistols - A Collector's Guide To The Priests Of Punk", Plexus 2003, page 102)
Reviewed in SOUNDS (22/10/1977) and ZIGZAG #78 (11/1977).
Original copies can be identified by the matrix numbers engraved in the runout area.
( 'A' side matrix appears to be "LYN 4732-14" but should in fact read "LYN 4732-111" considering the way it is etched.
