A Collection of Beatles Oldies signed by the Beatles and owned by Beatrice Welles, daughter of Orson Welles. We’ve done our best to compare and authenticate these signatures to known examples from the time period of 1966-1969. After many pages of signatures, we’ve drawn a few conclusions and offer a thing or two to consider……However, we cannot confirm their authenticity. 

·      John’s signature changed the most over time. We could find one example where the letter L was formed the same way. (included in photo #5)

·      Paul formed his letter P a number of different ways. The example we’ve included makes us the most comfortable however, we cannot find an example where he crossed his T.

·      George almost always had an open letter G, actually at times it looks like a lower-case letter E at the top. There was a time when the lower part of his letter G was curved like ours and the stem of the G always connects to the letter E.

·      Ringo seems to have the STAR and LINES under his signature almost always but, we did find a few examples from 1966 where there wasn’t any (included in photo #5). His stage name of ‘Star’ eventually became a star symbol. The Formation of his R is very obvious and you can match them up based on the examples we’ve included.

After all this we have the story from Beatrice herself who’s a dear friend of ours and must say, the story is just as valuable as the signatures if you do believe! We were able to find internet proof (even this many years later) where Orson Welles and Epstein kept company and the last thing to consider is how small of a space there was to sign on this particular record (literally goes into the print) and how early into their career this would have been or under what circumstances this could have been signed like....walking on/off stage. 

In our opinion it’s a signed UK released Beatles record owned and even personalized by a celebrity herself, the daughter of a film legend who would have had no problem getting signatures (especially while the family was living in the U.K. at that time) from The Fab Four in their glory day.

We’ve taken this as far as we can and will leave the bidding up to you!
