Description
It's always a problem grading these lovely old SKA records.
They went to lots of parties.
That means that they're a bit battered and that's why many have names written on the label.
HOWEVER... they're usually cut VERY LOUD and though they look a bit rough, they sound OK (especially if you press the "Mono" button).
This means that a 60's Ska goodie can be perfectly acceptable, even if it looks R.A.A.B.B. (Rough As A Bear's Bottom)..
Please “bear” that in mind when reading my descriptions.
And having said all that stuff about R.A.A.B.B discs, here's one that's acually C.A.A.J.O.C.H (Clean As A Joke On Childrens' Hour).
It's two Studio One recordings by The Clarendonians. "The Jerk" and "You Won't See Me" on UK Ska Beat JB261 dating from 1966.
Coxsone Dodd seems to have been the producer, and (according to the label) he also wrote both toons, including the B side which I always thought was written by some Scouse chaps who were popular a few years back.
The A side is dedicated to the moron who stole my bike.
The disc is as shiny and clean as my cat's bowl after he has been fed "Creamy Dreamies"© at three o'clock in the morning.
It is remarkably tidy for such an obscure and ancient item.
I have no hesitation in grading both sides as a very very strong VG++ or better.
You'll never find a cleaner copy.
I am not a dealer.
I am just a very old bloke thinning out his lifetime collection of STUFF before the floor collapses (or I do).
I'm selling most of this stuff for much less
than I paid for it.
What a great business plan (I don't think)!
