Description
It's always a problem grading these lovely old SKA records.
They went to lots of parties.
That means that they're a bit battered and that's why many have names written on the label.
HOWEVER... they're usually cut VERY LOUD and though they look a bit rough, they sound OK (especially if you press the "Mono" button).
This means that a 60's Ska goodie can be perfectly acceptable, even if it looks R.A.A.B.B. (Rough As A Bear's Bottom)..
Please bear that in mind when reading my descriptions.
Well... having said that...
Here we have a GREAT ska record in FANTASTIC condition!
This unusual and miraculous event involves a lovely and rare “Ska Beat” single from 1967.
It is “We’ve Got Love” and “I Am Lonely” by The Heptones on Ska Beat JB 266.
It is a Caltone production, from B. K. Kalnek aka Kenlac.
It is as rare as heck, and even rarer in good condition.
This copy shines “like a National guitar” to quote Paul Simon.
It is amazingly clean and tidy. The “A” side is spotlessly clean and plays beautifully. The “B” side has a tiny teeny weeny light non-sounding mark caused by removal from a paper sleeve.
It is as insignificant as a teardrop in the cosmic universal ocean, but stops the disc being graded as EX for both sides.
It is, I reckon a very very strong VG++++++++++++ or probably much better.
A thieving ratbag in a dimly-lit record fair would describe it as mint while holding his grubby thumb over the very light almost-invisible sleeve-mark.
