This is the extremely rare Slade 7" promo that was issued in 1972. This single was released to promote the album Slade Alive and the two tracks are 'Hear Me Calling' and 'Get Down With It'. There were only 500 of these ever released and it truly is almost the Holy Grail for Slade fans. The condition is as follows.
The sleeve is a card sleeve that has small transfers of the band on it. It is in great condition. The 'A' side has a sticker which has the number 3630 and this has always been there and I have never attempted to remove it. The condition of the disc is excellent. The 'B' side is in excellent condition.
What makes this possibly the rarest of the 500 issued is the fact that it includes a letter from Ploydor that was sent to the DJ who owned this originally. The letter is dated 21st March, 1972 and it reads;
Dear Disc-Jockey,
This is a 33 1/3 r.p.m. sample of two tracks of the SLADE ALIVE album which is released this week (March 24th).
The disc is for you from Slade and is NOT AVAILABLE as a single to the public. Please stress this to the customers.
It's one hell of an album so if your kids want to destroy their parents/neighbours tell them to buy the album and play it loud.
The letter is signed by Mike Hales and is on official Polydor paper. The letter is in super condition and was folded to fit in the sleeve.
I can't stress just how incredibly rare this is, it is perhaps the only one of it's kind in existence that still includes the letter especially in such great nick.
