Description
This is the original first UK vinyl pressing of Smashing Pumpkin’s Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, released in 1996 on triple Direct Metal Mastered LP, bought new by me soon after release and stored carefully in a smoke-free home. This is number 2256 of the initial limited numbered run and is in stunning condition, and has two extra tracks which are not on the CD release.
The gatefold cover is beautiful, the only minor imperfections are a very small scuff on the back (2mm long) and a slight knock to the top left corner which is less than 1cm long. Both are shown in the photos. Apart from this it honestly looks like new – no seam splits or edge damage, no bends or creases, and the spine is crisp and straight.
The booklet is flawless, and the paper inner sleeves are poly-lined and completely undamaged.
All three records are genuinely like new, no scuffs or scratches, and play flawlessly and sound absolutely superb. It has only ever been played on my Linn LP12, not many times as I usually play the CD (even though the DMM vinyl sounds unquestionably better). The records will of course be shipped outside of the cover in Nagaoka anti-static sleeves, and everything will be packaged incredibly carefully and safely.
I’d be shocked if an original copy of this album ever turns up in better condition. I have no hesitation in describing it as like new.
