Smokey Robinson & Miracles Going to a Go-Go RARE UK Tamla Motown STEREO EX Cond.

ULTRA RARE Original (sleeve dated 02/66) Tamla Motown STEREO pressing of Smokey Robinson and The Miracles ‘Going To A Go-Go’ L.P. (Catalogue Reference: Tamla Motown STML 11024).  This isn’t the easiest Robinson & Miracles L.P. to find let alone a STEREO pressing and this is a really decent example.  The vinyl is stored in what I believe to be the original Tamla/EMI label bag and this is really quite crisp.  There is no doubt that this copy has seen play however, not excessively so.  The playing surfaces still retain a certain sheen and there are no marks of substance (which can be felt).  Under an intense light there is a reasonable volume of tiny, hairline markings however, this is not excessively present and large sections of the playing surfaces are mark free.  I’d say that unsurprisingly, Side One has seen more play than Side Two however, condition-wise they are fairly evenly matched.  As can hopefully be seen in the attached images there is a limited amount of spindle-wear and spindle ‘drags’ are evident near the spindle-hole.  There are many, many records of this vintage which I would like to find in this kind of condition and in my opinion this copy is too good for VG grading and therefore I grade the vinyl as being in EXCELLENT- condition.  The sleeve is similarly a lovely example and clearly we’re looking at a copy which was played at the time but has seen little use since.  The laminate still retains a certain ‘fresh’ appearance and the rear is largely as white as the day this was pressed (there is perhaps a hint of ring-wear in places).  In my opinion there are no major flaws.  Each of the corners has received the lightest of knocks with the two bottom corners perhaps having sustained more wear than the two top corners.  I note three creases in the laminate on the front of the sleeve near the opening edge which result from the cover being gripped between the fingertips whilst the vinyl is removed.  Two of these are replicated on the rear of the sleeve and one of them has slightly bent the opening edge of the sleeve.  With regards to the opening edge of the sleeve it should be noted that there is minimal fraying.  On the back of the sleeve I note a tiny crease in the top right-hand corner which isn’t replicated on the front of the sleeve.  The colouring is really very vivid and this is a stunning example.  The sleeve is conservatively graded as being in EXCELLENT condition.  I doubt you’ll ever find a better example!

Final Remarks

While this is not perfect believe me when I say that you’ll have to go a long way to find a superior overall example.  Please check my other auctions for a run of Tamla Motown albums and 45s in similarly tidy condition as well as a large selection of Folk, Pop, R&B, Rock and Soul collectables.  Save me as a favourite seller as there is plenty more where this came from!

I have been a collector for in excess of 15 years now and regard myself as a conservative grader.  I know from experience that there is nothing worse than buying an item which is described with superlatives only for it to arrive and look like it has been scrapped along the floor (!).  As a rule I don’t submit anything to auction which I wouldn’t be happy receiving myself.  I endeavour to be accurate with my grading and all items are graded under an intense light.  Please take a look through my feedback as I’d like to think it speaks for itself. 

Returns Policy

If you are not entirely happy with your purchase then please contact me within 7 days of receipt.  The buyer is expected to meet the return postage costs.

Payment Methods

Domestic buyers can pay via Cheque, PayPal or Postal Order.  Overseas buyers are always welcome and are required to pay via PayPal.  Payment is expected within 7 days of auction end unless otherwise agreed.

Postage Costs

I have had to bring my service in-line with changes to Royal Mail Terms and Conditions effective of April 2013.  Previously items sent via standard post were automatically covered up to the value of £46.00 however, standard postage now only covers items up to the value of £20.00.  Items with an opening value >£20.00 will include domestic Signed For postage costs automatically.  Items with an opening value <=£20.00 and which complete with a value <=£20.00 will continue to be dispatched via standard post unless otherwise agreed (i.e. the buyer indicates a preference otherwise).  Items which have an opening value <=£20.00 but whose final value is >£20.00 will be subject to enhanced postage costs in order to cover the extra insurance which is required.  I hope this is as straightforward as I can make it?  Ultimately, please don’t make payment until you’ve received an invoice from me and if you aren’t happy with the invoice you receive then I’m always open to discussion.  Buyers should be aware that both Ebay and PayPal take a % of postage charges (i.e. they are higher than I’d ideally want them to be).

Multiple purchases will be subject to consolidated postage costs.  I will contact you at the end of the auction to confirm these costs.
