Fellow audiophiles up for your consideration is a rare and long out of print 1968 re-issue of the iconic folk blues duo Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee's "Preachin' the Blues" originally produced as a mono LP in 1958 and titled Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee Sing. There are some subtle differences from the original recording such as title changes and length of songs (only seconds) but overall this version was basically remastered to simulate the stereo effect. I own dozens of these type recordings and they are remarkable in sound quality, much more so than the later re-issues that were digitally sourced. (not looking to debate the subject, just my personal opinion). The Folkways label was also home to recording artists Woody Guthrie, Pete Seger and Leadbelly. The label was acquired by the Smithsonian Institution in 1987 and currently is known as The Smithsonian Folkways Recording Co. They still have a lot of cool offerings. The blues duo of Bronie & McGhee never ventured musically from their roots and this is a really nice vintage album if you enjoy traditional blues. I played the record one time to transfer it to tape so the condition is near new. The shrink wrap is still intact and the inner sleeve is correct. I keep my records in a mostly dust free smoke free and climate controlled environment environment (not a warehouse). I am offering up some of my duplicate titles to help fund my habit.
