Description
Here’s a rare hillbilly C&W compilation album! Its called “Hillbilly Hit Parade” Vol. 1 on the Starday label, number LP-102. This is the second LP ever to be issued on the label. It’s an original issue, on heavy old-style vinyl, somewhat crude pressing, typical of Starday’s product of the era. There seems to be some uncertainty of the release date on this album, but it’s somewhere between 1956 and 1958 depending on the source. Features very early material by George Jones, and also Leon Payne. Also has c&w style covers of two Elvis Presley tunes- Heartbreak Hotel and I Want You, I Need You, I Love You by Eddie Blank. Vinyl grades VG, plays with some popping in places, and surface noise typical of these pressings. Played through without skipping on my record player. Cover has no seam splits, a rarity for this type of cover. Some age and rub wear on front and back, nothing too bad. Rare LP! Drop me a message if ebay doesn’t calculate shipping for you.
