Steely Dan's debut album Can't Buy a Thrill (MCA Records MCA-37040 / AB-37040 in some pressings), released November 1972. It's the album that introduced Donald Fagen and Walter Becker's sophisticated jazz-rock/pop fusion to the world—witty, cynical lyrics, impeccable musicianship, and a slick, studio-polished sound that set the template for their career. Produced by Gary Katz (their longtime collaborator), recorded at The Village Recorder in LA, and featuring the core early lineup plus top session players.

Cover: Psychedelic/pop-art explosion of color—giant red lips with a rainbow tongue snaking out, wrapping around a shirtless man holding a woman, set against a street scene with pedestrians and a "Rodeo" sign (nod to Hollywood excess). The title in bubbly yellow/blue/pink lettering. This is the classic original gatefold design—yours shows typical vintage wear: edge scuffs, ring wear, corner dings, and some surface scratches on the matte finish, but the colors remain vibrant.

Back Cover: Liner notes by "Robert" (likely a fictional or in-joke credit), crediting musicians like Jeff "Skunk" Baxter (guitar), Denny Dias (guitar), Jim Hodder (drums/vocals), David Palmer (vocals), plus guests Elliott Randall (guitar on "Reelin'"), Victor Feldman (percussion), and others. It lists the full tracklist and production details. The yellow "Steely Dan" logo is embossed or printed boldly.

Inner Sleeve/Gatefold: White with small color photos (various surreal/stock-like images: family scenes, golf, snow, etc.—classic '70s collage style). Lyrics printed in wavy, colorful text. No major damage visible in your pics.
