I know that Emperor Tomato Ketchup usually gets this honor, but I must put it 4th behind Cobra, then Dots and Loops then Mars Audiac Quintet. It has everything I love about them.

The production by Tortoise's John McEntire, Jim O'Rourke and the Groop is great- taking the disparate freeform jazz moments (think Ornette Coleman or Thelonious Monk) and fusing them with the sound of Stereolab...Regular guest Sean O'Hagan (Microdisney, High Llamas) also adds to the multitude of sounds- filling in the missing-link from Francoise Hardy to Neu!...
