A Rare and hard to find classic RA!~ One of his best!! Beautiful Thoth Intergalactic pressing of this classic Solar Arkestra session from 1965, originally issued on Saturn in 1966. This copy with silver writing on black labels is probably from sometime in the late '60s, but we aren't sure exactly how to date these. We assume this was before the second Saturn press (LP 403) but there are also copies (both mono and stereo, it seems) with black and also blue & white Thoth labels with the same catalog number and we aren't sure which Thoth pressing came first. To make things even more confusing, 403 is written underneath the song titles on the label on both sides. Trail off etching is "711-A 1-GB SATURN STEREO" on side A and "711-B 1-GB STEREO" on side B. El Saturn is written in cursive on both sides. Interestingly...run-off grooves say Stereo, but the label says Monaural, as does the front of the jacket. My ears tell me it is Stereo. PO Box 7124 Chicago, IL 60607 address is on the bottom of the label on both sides. Ra plays Clavioline and piano on Magic City, and bass Marimba, Piano, Tympani, Electronic Celeste, and Sun Harp, dragon drum on side 2. Joining Mr Ra are regulars Pat Patrick, John Gilmore, Marshall Allen, Danny Davis, Ronnie Boykins, as well as Harry Spencer, Ali Hassan, Walter Miller, Robert Blank, Chris Capers, Teddy Nance, Bernard Pettaway, and Jimhmi Johnson in various combinations.

Vinyl is EX except for the fact that Saturn pressings are notoriously bad, so I don't want to give a false impression...It looks unplayed. There are slight spindle marks on both sides. There are pops occasionally. The former owner has written "beginning of side 2 skips", although it did not skip when played on our turntable. Jacket is EX. Spines are fine except a 1" breach along the bottom. USPS shipping prices have GONE UP! Especially overseas. Be sure to look at the new shipping prices before bidding!
