Super Rare The Stooges Fun House UK 1970 2nd Press.
This record is considered one of the scarcest UK pressings of any US artist. It’s a superb 1970 2nd UK pressing of the ground breaking “Fun House” LP by The Stooges on the Elektra “Butterfly” label.
Matrix numbers:
SIDE 1 - K 42055 A2 stamped
SIDE 2 - K 42055 B2 stamped
The vinyl is in nice condition with a few very light scuffs that cannot be felt by hand. I have listened through fully and there is virtually no deterioration in sound. There is a small amount of background crackle on the run ins and in between 1 or 2 tracks but this cannot be heard at all when the music plays. It’s loud, clear and virtually crackle free throughout. Really, truly superb audio throughout! EX+
The sleeve is in superb condition and grades as Near Mint. A few very very minor creases on one corner but otherwise superb. See photos. NM
This is genuinely one of the rarest records that any Iggy Pop or Punk fan could get their hands on.

“There is much debate as to what the first UK pressing actually was. It has been rumoured that the album was actually pressed on the orange label with silver print, the same as their debut. There is no proof anywhere that it exists. This album was first released in the UK in July 1970 on the dark red labels with the white stylized 'E' logo and black print. It sold very poorly and was shortly deleted.
This is where things get interesting. Most price guides claim that the album was not repressed again until 1977, it's catalogue number being K 42055. This is not true as what you see before you is one of the late 1970 pressings, from when Kinney had just taken over distribution!! This is on the butterfly label design, and the catalogue number is EKS 74071 - the same as the US pressing! This pressing dates from roughly September 1970, only two months after it's first release. There is no mention of this pressing anywhere in any price guides!! I have seen other albums repressed from this period - Incredible String Band's 'Hangman's Beautiful Daughter' being one example, it has the same catalogue number as the first pressing but is on the butterfly label. Presumably, this pressing sold even less than the first pressing on the red labels and by the time Elektra switched to the 'K' series in 1971, this album had been deleted!!
So what you have here is technically the RAREST PRESSING OF THIS ALBUM OUT THERE!! If you look at the labels and sleeve, they both have the EKS number and the non-gatefold E.J. Day sleeve has the Kinney credit! Only the first UK pressing came in the non-gatefold E.J. Day sleeves and as you can see from the picture, the Kinney credit has been airbrushed over the Polydor credit from the red label pressing!
The matrix numbers in the run-out grooves are both stamped and carry the K 42055 number, which would have been assigned to the album automatically, as with all Kinney pressings (this includes Warner Brothers, Reprise and other labels at the time). “
