While far from a household name, Raymond Scott has in recent years started to gain the credit he deserves as one of the great innovators of 20th century music.  Some career highlights include working as the pianist for the CBS Radio house band to eventually become CBS's music director, helping to revitalize swing and big band jazz music in the late 30s with his own band during which he began to become a savvy and forward-thinking sound engineer (I believe this LP is made up of recordings by Scott during this time), developing multi-track recording techniques while working for Les Paul in the 40s a whole ten years before Ampex would sell the first commercially available 8 track recording unit (with the first one being purchased by Les Paul), selling his music publication to Warner Bros in the 40s where his music would eventually soundtrack the original Looney Tunes and Merry Melodies and starting his own company Manhattan Research which was one of the early innovators to electronic music and electronic instruments/synthesizers/drum machines.

During this time, Scott gave Bob Moog a job before Moog started his own company, created the Clarivox, ring modulator and polyphonic sequencer as well as some of the first envelope generators and analog filters, worked for Barry Gordy as the director of Motown's Electronic Music and Research starting in 1969 and created some of the first experimental electronic albums and arguably first techno recordings (seriously) in the 50s.  His legacy increases everyday with artists such as Devo's Mark Mothersbaugh or J Dilla praising his work.

About Me

I might be a new seller on ebay but I'm not new to record selling and collecting.  I have worked at record stores, have sold at record shows and I have sold on and off on Discogs since it's beginning.  I've always wanted to join the ebay marketplace but was afraid of starting out as a new seller.  I finally decided to stop worrying and start listing.

Grading, Shipping and Returns

I try to grade conservatively and I adapt this conservative approach to Goldmine Standards but I do use EX and VG- when needed because I feel Goldmine grading is not descriptive enough compared to any other grading system and not always descriptive enough.  NM looks an sounds like a mint album while EX would look like a mint or near mint album with maybe one superficial mark or light scuff/hairline that does not affect play.  I also try to provide well-recorded audio samples of the exact item for sale.  You can hear the grade before buying but I promise you won't be disappointed.

When shipping, I use new professional LP or 45 mailers along with sturdy inserts.  Every item will come in a clear plastic outer sleeve, the media will be removed from the sleeve and any included inner sleeve and placed into a new white inner sleeve to prevent seam splits.

I accept returns up to 30  days and to put any fears of a new seller to bed, I will pay for return shipping. If you have any questions or concerns, message me and I will respond promptly.
