TEARDROPS ON MY GUITAR is about Swift's high school classmate, Drew Hardwick. She had a crush on him, but he only saw her as a friend and would often talk to her about the other girl he was in love with. She wrote the song to capture the pain of unrequited love.
A few years after the song became a massive hit, Drew unexpectedly showed up at her Nashville home. He and his girlfriend had broken up, and he was hoping to reconnect. She famously brushed him off with the line, "Wow, you're late?"
