"A HARD DAY'S NIGHT" PARLOPHONE PMC 1230 MONO PRESSING RELEASED 10th JULY 1964
STAMPERS 5 HR 3 LA MATRICES XEX 481-3N XEX 482 -3N
UK first pressing with "THE PARLOPHONE CO LTD" rim text and "SOLD IN THE UK" & "RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1964" label text. Mid sized solid MONO on front sleeve. Ernest J Day sleeve credit. Incorrect tax code "MT" embossed on centre. The correct tax code for this release should be "KT" The disc is in superb, Possibly the best I have ever seen. Bright deep black glossy sheen. Extremely rare in this condition. I did notice a couple of the faintest small non sounding hairlines. Absolutely nothing serious.
The disc plays as NEAR MINT.
The label print is the original "Chubby" Sans Serif font which was used on the early releases. Later ones featured the "THIN" Sans Serif before moving to Roman Type 1 and Type 2.
Playback was absolutely superb with no background AT ALL. No pops no clicks or tics no repeats or jumps.
The run-ins and run-outs are COMPLETELY SILENT.
The EMITEX inner is in great condition. See photos.
The vinyl record is housed within an extremely rare Ernest J Day flip-back sleeve which has a mid-size solid
mono aural indicator on the front side. Most releases featured the Garrod & Lofthouse Patents Pending sleeve.
The Ernest J Day sleeve is front laminated only with rounded flip overs to the rear is in superb original condition. Easily EX+
The spine is straight and true with ALL the print undamaged and fully legible.
All the other seams are in similar superb condition.
The open is free of feathering.
The rear of the sleeve retains its original white appearance. Usually they are faded or become grubby after nearly 60 years!
The disc has been professionally cleaned on a high end DEGRITTER ULTRASONIC CLEANING MACHINE
and will be sent with an anti static NAGAOKA inner sleeve.
As always I have played every track in full. I cannot emphasise enough just how strong and clear the audio is, the playback is stunning.
As stated in my introduction the previous owner really knew how to look after his LPs !

- NEAR MINT ~ visual inspection has revealed that the record plays noiselessly. If there are any surface marks these will be noted in the listing.
- EXCELLENT ~ The record shows some signs of being played but there is very little lessening of the sound quality. There may be some light crackle but NO major problems like LOUD clicks. Occasional soft tics are acceptable. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
- VERY GOOD ~ The record has obviously been played many times but displays no major deterioration in sound quality. despite noticeable surface and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items without any major defects is acceptable
