Original 1964 UK pressed Parlophone Records mono LP, PMC 1230.

Early "chubby" text variant, some issues have a more slender text.

"Parlophone Co Ltd" etc in upper case to perimeter and "Sold in UK" text.

"Recording First Published" text beneath matrix numbers on labels.

KT tax code embossed to centre of B side label.

XEX 481-3N / XEX 482-3N matrix numbers, GOA 8 / RRO 6 mothers/stampers.

The previous issue points and 3N/3N matrix numbers are all consistent with the first pressing of this LP.

In summary not a mint or even EX issue, but generally an unusually clean and well preserved issue of this LP, with playback especially being very close to EX.

Vinyl still has a good gloss, although revolving the LP under a light source reveals a fair few light hairline marks and scuffs. There are no deep or feelable marks or gouges however, and visually a solid VG, strictly graded. The marks that are visible are not great in number and are spread thinly across the surfaces.

The labels still have a very bright and undulled gloss and are free of loss or annotations. There are a few visible light spider trail marks around the spindle areas, and the centre holes are beginning to show just the merest fraction of whitening, but this is not at all obtrusive.

Note that there are a couple of minor splash type stain marks to the B side label. However, the photo very much over emphasises these. The marks are very unobtrusive in normal usage, and only really show at certain angles when the disc is revolved beneath a light source.

On the whole very clean and with no major flaws, mostly plays EX. The A side run-in is quiet. Some minor scuffy crackle at the first separator band. Some marginal background crackle at the beginning of track three, well behind the music. At track five some absolutely fractional background noise with minor crackle at the next separator band. The final two tracks of the A side play EX with just some marginal separator band crackle.

The B side run-in is quiet and this side plays EX bar some very infrequnet and marginal background and band separator crackle, all of this well behind the music.

The LP has no ticks or clicks.

Inner sleeve is a poly-lined Emitex which is very well preserved and at least EX. Clean and bright, and without browning. No annotations or marks. Some expected minor creasing consistent with the position of the LP, but even this is to an absolute minimum. No seam splits.

A fairly solid VG with light overall wear but no glaring imperfections. The laminated front panel still has a good gloss. A few minor half moon and other imperfections to the laminate, including short pinch line type creases leading in from edge areas. Rear panel broadly clean and although not crisp white, also not heavily browned. Gentle toning showing, more so to edge areas. A couple of penned inscriptions, visible in the photo. Visible flaps are in good order and undamaged. Spine areas still well preserved and without splits but one or two dots of whitening chipping here and there and tips a little worn. Entry side gently knocked and worn but still crisp enough not to be considered feathered.

On the whole an issue which has some minor imperfections, but is generally in far better condition than is the norm for surviving copies.
