For sale is a UK 1st pressing STEREO copy of the Abbey Road LP. This is a wonderful example of one of The Beatles finest and most collectable LP's, with the misaligned apple logo on the rear cover and no ‘Her Majesty’ on the record sleeve or the record label.

The laminated record sleeve is in excellent condition for its age with only some mild corner wear and minor laminate cracks. There is lifting to the top right corner on the front cover and one small crease to the bottom left corner also. The spine is intact and the title is clear and there is no unwanted writing, stains or seam splits anywhere.

·         I would therefore rate the cover as EX

The first pressing heavyweight vinyl is in excellent condition on both sides and plays with superb audio giving a glorious stereo sound throughout. Each side has a few hairlines and the standard sleeve rub, but this is only seen under strong light and does not affect the sound quality. There are no scratches, deep needle skates or chips.

·         I would therefore rate the vinyl  as EX

The first pressing dark UK Apple labels are vibrant and clean with minimal spindle wear and no writing, stains or blemishes.  Both labels carry ‘An EMI Recording’.

Side 2 also has no reference to ‘Her Majesty’ which was later printed on both the label and the record sleeve

·         I would therefore rate the labels as EX

This LP will be very carefully packaged. The cover is kept in a 12” self-residue sleeve and the vinyl is housed in a new polylined bag. Both will be, and have been kept separately for archiving purposes and I would advise these remain this way for maximum value in the future.

GRADING SYSTEM:  In order to assist everyone who buys and sells rare discs, Record Collector magazine has originated a set of standards for the condition of second-hand records, I have added a (+) or (-) to my grading’s where applicable.

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
