THE BEATLES 'Abbey Road' APPLE PCS 7088. YEX 749-4 / YEX 750-2U Late 70s Pressing. Condition is Used. Dispatched with Royal Mail 2nd Class.

Sleeve is beautiful. Laminating is clean, bright and increased, the spine is totally undamaged. Only issue is the bottom has come unglued (clearly photographed) but only needs a little careful gluing with a pritt-stick or other safe paper glue. Vinyl plays beautifully - no jumps or audible scratches. There are some visible marks on the playing surface, but I gave it a listen and I couldn’t hear anything worth noting as a problem.

It sometimes seems a real shame that Let It Be didn’t come out as scheduled and this, their swan song recording adventure didn’t become their last release. The band’s taut relationship at this point is well documented, as is Paul’s heroics in pullin together the mammoth medley for side 2 from scraps and half-songs. But when the band were often not talking, or at each other’s throats, they still created 40 minutes of sheer joy and beauty.

Unlike most bands, The Beatles’ releases and pressings are fairly easy to narrow down to within a few years - this, with the pressing codes YEX 749-4 & 750-2U was between 1976 and 1980. So, it’s not an original issue, but it’s from a time when vinyl was still sturdy as hell and well mastered. This sounds great.

All records will be posted in Defendapack Twistwrap double thickness record mailers and with the disc *outside* the sleeve and protective bubblewrap, so there will be no new corner damage or holes in the edges caused by the LP sliding inside the sleeve in transit.

All existing wear, tear and damage done to the sleeve when I was a teenager and didn't think the state of my records was any concern of anyone else other than myself, will be either described or will be clearly photographed.

As a personal note: this is my own vinyl collection. I'm downsizing, so saying a ceremonial goodbye to my LPs and singles that have been part of my life for the best part of 50 years. I'm not a dealer: these records were bought to listen to - in many cases to listen to A LOT. And they've been with me through goods times and bad times. I'm a very careful owner, so they're mostly in really condition for their age (wish I could say that for other things), but none of them are in mint condition.

As part of saying goodbye, I'm first cleaning them using a DISCO-ANTISTAT RECORD CLEANER, and to be honest they have never sounded this good - in some cases they're better than the day I bought them. Then I'm giving them a last play through using a brand new stylus, paying attention to any surface noise, audible scratches etc. I'm noticing that vinyl really took a plunge in quality around 1990 :-) both in weight and sound. Because of this last play through, I can honestly tell you what they sound like after a clean.

This is a slow process - about ten records a week - so please save my eBay selling page and see if anything else you're interested in crops up: having been raised under the wing of John Peel, it's a very eclectic collection.
