Please Read: Before you get too excited, I want to make it perfectly clear that this is a perhaps never before seen "2nd State" Beatles Butcher REPLICA! There are hordes of 1st State Replicas all over ebay and elsewhere, which are being produced in Japan. I don't have a clue where this particular one was produced! What I can say, is that it's very eerie to look at! It's too perfect! Ringo's V NECK is clearly visible under the top "trunk" coverslick! Not only is it still in shrink wrap, but the title text and colors are all, dare I say, perfect! It even has the RIAA # 5 on the back lower right hand corner! It didn't have the vinyl LP with it when I acquired it, so I'm providing an authentic 1st pressing Stereo vinyl and the appropriate innersleeve simply to complete this as a set. I've waited over a month to list this item as I've been researcing the potential origin of this jacket, and whether or not there are any others like this for sale, anywhere. I have not found any others like this anywhere! So, with that said, there will be no returns accepted for this item. Sold as stated, described and pictured.

In response to a recent question: the shading or shadow of the "V-Neck" is under the trunk top coverslick, NOT a darkened area on the top trunk coverslick! Apparently there are some really cheesy knock-offs out there that simply have an area on the top cover which is slightly darkened to give the impression that there is a V-Neck underneath. Of course that's only from a distant glance. This one is very very convincing! I've had both 2nd and 3rd State Butchers in the past and can attest to the very convincing appearance of this cover - up close and personal!

This would make an awesome Christmas gift for someone - Good Luck on your bidding!

Grading Info:

We adhere to strict Goldmine visual grading standards PLUS!

All of our vinyl LP's are visually graded and play graded in their entirety for absolute quality assurance!

Visual inspection is performed with optimal 2 x 100 watt overhead lighting and 20/15 vision - no kidding!

I personally play grade each LP on a Numark Professional turntable with a pristine Shure M97xE Audiophile cartridge.

As a long-time rock, funk and fusion drummer I have very stringent standards and an extremely critical ear for playback issues, which are commonly overlooked with the Goldmine standard visual inspection!

Information on the importance and absolute value of play-grading.

All of the vinyl records we sell are visually graded AND play graded in their entirety. The reason being is that some major record labels were pressed on better quality vinyl and will naturally sound better than a record which was pressed on a budget label using inferior or lower quality vinyl. The point is that a vinyl record pressed on a high quality record label that was visually graded VG+ may in actuality sound better than a record pressed on a budget label that was visually graded Near Mint! Recording, engineering and pressing techniques also create variances in the sonic quality of a vinyl record. There may be defects in a vinyl pressing which are essentially invisible until the record is in motion on the turntable.

Identifying highly sought-after Original/1st pressings is another important quality factor. Original/1st pressings are very much akin to a 1st printing book. A good analogy is that a 1st printing book has clean fresh printing plates, thus crisper/sharper text than a later printing using the same worn printing plates. Additionally, there are some notorious original/1st pressings on major labels which have very poor sound quality….. I don't want to point fingers (Atlantic, Cotillion, London). Attentive play grading coupled with meticulous cleaning ensures the quality of the products we offer to the online community. Every record is handled with the utmost care whether it’s a $15 record or a $4500 collectors’ item!

Many of the rare LP’s we sell include: SS still sealed, MFSL, Japanese, Dutch and German Audiophile, WLP DJ White Label Promo, Nautilus, Direct and Super Disk, TAS listed, Mastersound, Masterdisk, Bell Sound, Sterling, RL/Bob Ludwig and other True 1st Pressings! Lots of OOP-Out of print LP's, and many that are just extremely RARE!

A special note on Japanese and half-speed mastered pressings:

Japanese vinyl releases are premium quality pressings, and are highly sought after by audiophiles and collectors alike. Japanese vinyl pressings are synonymous with high quality. The vinyl shines brilliantly like no other vinyl! When the world renowned US company Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab first released their audiophile series of ultra-high quality vinyl pressings in the late 1970’s, the records were manufactured in Japan. The sonic quality of all Japanese pressings is considered to be among the best in the world! Plus they are beautifully presented with their covers usually printed on better quality heavy stock paper materials and often include a bonus lyric insert with dual language text. Nearly all Japanese LPs were issued with an “obi” - which literally translated means “sash.” This decorative paper strip, usually wrapped around the left side of the album jacket, contains marketing information and album content details, all printed in Japanese script. Obi’s are comparable to having the shrink wrap and stickers still present. Obi's are becoming increasingly more collectible as well. Any Japanese vinyl release which is still in excellent or NM condition is a sound investment! No pun intended...

Half-speed mastering refers to the speed of mastering for the original recording onto the master lacquer, which is then used to make the masters that press each vinyl LP. Many standard LPs are mastered at standard speed, which means that the master tape moves at the same speed as the original recording session and the master lacquer moves at 33 1/3 rpm. In contrast, running each of these machines at half-speed allows twice as much time for the cutting stylus to cut every possible detail, and delicate groove modulation, resulting in LPs where you can hear details and nuances on your favorite albums that you never heard before!
