Description
This is an auction for The Beatles first single, Love Me Do, side 2, P.S. I Love You.
This was released by Parlophone records in 1962 and has catalogue number 45 R 4949. This is the 1st press with a red label with "The Parlophone Co Ltd" in upper case & "Recording First Published 1962" label text. Please check the pictures for clarification.
Matrix: 7XCE 17144 1N 7XCE 17145 1N Stampers ZT G ZT M
Condition: Both labels have been defaced with pen marks, there is a scuff mark seen at 12 o'clock on side two, under closer examination some spindle trails can be seen on each side. The centre hole shows just a touch of wear. Please check the pictures on supersize.
The vinyl retains some of its shine, lots of feather scratches can be seen, mostly when tilted to the light. When I first saw this I assumed it would play quite messy with audible surface noise and showing plenty of deterioration in sound quality. So I was infact very surprised to find this actually plays very well indeed. The above mentioned scratches are completely non-audible, the audio is still strong and clear, I suspect there may be some very quiet crackling occurring, but due to the strong and loud music, it certainly drowns out any feckling that may be occurring. Nice entry into each side, no hiss, distortion or fading heard on either side. Playing with no major deterioration in sound quality and not appearing to suffer much reduction due to wear.
I have to grade this at VG, surface marks, label defaced and quite well played. The audio for this is certainly better than graded and actually better than this record appears.
This comes with its original sleeve which is in fine condition, no edge splits or discolouring.
A worthy addition to any collection, not the best looking record but plays much better than it appears.
