RECORD COMES IN A 'HI-GRADE' MFSL PVC INNER SLEEVE (FOR PROTECTION)
The Beatles appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show three consecutive Sundays in February, 1964, to great anticipation and fanfare as "I Want to Hold Your Hand" had swiftly risen to #1 in the charts. Their first appearance on February 9 is considered a milestone in American pop culture and the beginning of the British Invasion in music.
The arrival of The Beatles in the U.S., and subsequent appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show, marked the start of the British Invasion.
The broadcast drew an estimated 73 million viewers, at the time a record for an American television program, and was characterized by an audience composed largely of screaming teenage girls in tears. The Beatles followed Ed's show opening intro, performing "All My Loving," "Till There Was You" (featuring the Beatles names imposed on the screen and the famous "SORRY GIRLS, HE'S MARRIED" caption under John), and "She Loves You." Then, late in the hour, they returned to perform "I Want to Hold Your Hand".
- ORIGINAL 'THIRD EDITION' U.S. PRESSING
- THIS IS NOT A REISSUE, OR COUNTERFEIT PRESSING.
- ORIGINAL, THICK CARDBOARD COVER (AMERICAN STYLE)
- ORIGINAL BLUE CAPITOL 'INNER-SLEEVE'
- BEAUTIFUL, WEAR-FREE CAPITOL MONO LABELS (seen below)
CONDITION OF THE RECORD ~ A beautiful vinyl:
(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, we grade ALL records under a strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight).
- WE GRADE THE VINYL AS EXCELLENT (STRONG VG++ to NEAR-MINT- (NEAR-MINT MINUS). We see NO real scratches. Under bright light only, some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL surface marks...mostly sleeve scuffs; a minimum of these surface paper sleeve-scuffs may be longer than 1.1/4 inches (1 inch = 2.5 centimeters). Side 1, cut 1, shows a very thin, very light, 'gray' line around one/half its perimeter (seen under bright light). These DO NOT affect audio play. NO BACKGROUND NOISE heard when play graded. . Beautiful, wear-free 'mono' labels showing a minimum (very few and very light) spindle hole 'hair-likes' (again, seen under light only). For more information please inquire. The original luster looks almost entirely intact. A beautiful vinyl.
- The record is pressed on a beautiful high quality, semi-flexible vinyl. Usually, the sound on such vinyl pressings is full-bodied, bright and rich in quality.
- The original luster is very much intact; the vinyl shows much of it's original shine.
- Original BLUE Capitol 'inner-sleeve'.
CONDITION OF THE COVER:
THE COVER IS EXCELLENT; GRADED STRONG VG++
The following flaws or imperfections are found on the cover:
- Cover shows a small 'jacket 'peel' wear (one place ONLY). CAUTION>There is one jacket 'peel' on the upper right corner (under the 'S' in 'Beatles!', to 'Pop Combo'. Please see pictures. On a scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and 10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of 'peel' wear as a 2.
- Cover (spine), one-half shows little 'indentation' wear (towards the back). On a scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and 10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of spine wear as a 2.
-
NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS FOUND ON THE COVER:
- NO RING IMPRESSION
- NO (real) CORNER WEAR (see above)
- NO CUTS/HOLES
- NO CUT CORNERS
- NO STAINS
