THE BEATLES Mobile Fidelity "The Collection" #9052. Condition is "Used".
Released in 1982, this was a Christmas present to myself! For a box set that's 38 years old it in amazing shape. Fact is, it's been on the shelf for all of these years. A couple of the discs have been played partially once, the others have never been played. The ones that were played were not played on a "scratchaphone" I had a VERY nice turntable so there's no doubt in my mind that the condition of all 14 discs is as good as the day they left the pressing plant in Japan. In fact, the discs haven't been out of the box for almost all of the 38 years.
There are 3 things I need to mention. First the "brass" (if that's what it is) hardware is not Brand News Shinny, it's tarnished and shows it's age. Second, the book of album covers/info/certificate of authenticity has a discoloration on the front of the white paper protective cover. You can see it in the pictures I've posted. It lines up with the hinge area perfectly so my best guess it's likely caused by the crap air here in Los Angeles. Album covers and anything beyond the protective sleeve are not affected. The box set has never seen the sun so it must be pollution!
Third, every album has a very small nick on the top left corner of the jacket. You can see it in the pictures. I thought was strange so I checked with two other people who I know have this box set. Turns out they all have it, don't know why but they do. So, it's not a defect - even if it was, it's not going to have any impact on the discs inside.
There can not be any returns on this item. Why? Because it's too easy for the discs to be damaged or abused and then returned. At that point it becomes useless to me.
