Description
For sale is a playable complete genuine 1st U.K. mono copy of The Beatles debut album Please Please Me.
This is in no way an immaculate copy with perfect sound. It is however complete, genuine and plays through without sticks skips or jumps.
Original ‘Gold’ sleeve with front photo credit starting at the end of the second S in Songs is in VG- condition. Has signs of wear particularly to rear bottom fold over, but intact with fully readable spine. No writing.
Original use Emitex inner sleeve in VG condition.
Record labels are in VG+ condition. Very early 1P and 1T stampers.
Visually both sides are only G+ , many marks, scuffs and surface scratches. Sonically however it plays better than it looks - closer to VG, hence my overall grading of VG-.
This is the case with many early 1960s EMI records which were built like tanks!
Both sides play through without sticks skips or jumps. There are light crackles through most quiet passages and between tracks and also some light ticks, but it is still an enjoyable listen.
There are better copies (and better looking) available for much more money. There are also other copies available on EBay described as VG+ which then mention in small print that they skip or jump on at least one track.
This is not a beautiful shining copy but it does play through without sticks or jumps. It is a true first issue of an iconic album.
A note for prospective bidders. In an auction, where there is a starting price and also the option for a best offer , it is expected that any offer made should be substantially ABOVE the starting price.
