THE BEATLES - PLEASE PLEASE ME (ELUSIVE SMALL 33 1/3 ON LABEL)
THE BEATLES
PLEASE PLEASE ME PMC 1202
XEX 421 - 1N 2 RR
XEX422 - 1N 1 GT
MT STAMP ON SIDE 2 LABEL.
HERE FOR SALE IS THE INCREDIBLY RARE 3RD PRESS (1ST BLACK AND YELLOW) WITH THE SMALL 33 1/3 ON THE LABELS.THIS IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE MOST RARE BEATLES MONO RELEASES AS THIS LABEL WASN'T AROUND FOR LONG BEFORE IT WAS QUICKLY CHANGED TO REMOVE THE 33 1/3 AS THERE WAS ALREADY THE LARGE ONE AT THE TOP OF THE LABEL.
"THESE ELUSIVE LABELS ARE EVEN RARER THAN THE NORTHERN SONGS GOLDS AND FOR MANY YEARS WENT UNNOTICED TILL VERY RECENTLY.YOU'LL SEE 20 GOLD MONO'S BEFORE ONE OF THESE POP UP"
THE SLEEVE IS THE CORRECT ERNEST J DAY "GOLD" VERSION WITH THE ANGUS MCBEAN CREDIT TO THE FAR RIGHT.IT REMAINS NICE AND BRIGHT BUT DOES HAVE SOME CORNER CREASING,BUMPS AND LIGHT SCUFFING.THE SPINE HAS NO DAMAGE TO THE TEXT.THE FLIPBACKS DO SHOW SOME STORAGE WEAR AND THAT IS VERY COMMON WITH THIS 1ST SLEEVE.THE REAR REMAINS MOSTLY CLEAR WITH SOME LIGHT MARKS AND AGEING.OVERALL GRADES VERY GOOD.YOU ARE DOING REALLY WELL TO FIND ONE THAT IS STILL INTACT AS MOST OF THESE ARE IN AWFUL CONDITION.
THE LABELS ARE IN EXCELLENT SHAPE WITH MINIMAL SPINDLE WEAR AND NO WRITING OR DAMAGE TO THE TEXT.THERE IS AN MT TAX STAMP ON SIDE 2.THERE IS AN UNUSUAL PRINTING RING ON SIDE 1(SEE PHOTO)
THE VINYL IS THE VERY THICKSET HEAVY VERSION SIMILAR TO THE FIRST PRESS GOLD RELEASES AND IS IN GREAT CONDITION.IT HAS KEPT A LOVELY GLOSSY SHEEN AND UNDER NORMAL LIGHT THERE ARE ONLY A COUPLE OF LIGHT HAIRLINES VISIBLE WITH A FEW NON FEELABLE MARKS AND PAPER SCUFFS.UNDER A BRIGHT LAMP YOU CAN SEE A FEW MORE SLEEVE REMOVAL MARKS BUT NOTHING TO AFFECT PLAY AT ALL.GRADES VG+.
PLAYBACK IS ABSOLUTELY SUPERB.A REAL PLEASURE TO LISTEN TO.BOLD AND BASSY AS THE DAY IT WAS PRESSED.CRYSTAL CLEAR SOUND WITH EVEN MOST OF THE RUN INS STILL SILENT.AUDIO GRADING IS EX+
HOUSED IN ORIGINAL "USE EMITEX" INNER WITH NO SPLITS OR TEARS.JUST SOME LIGHT AGEING AND CREASING.
THIS IS A VERY EXCITING FIND AND ITS TRUE RARITY IS STILL TO BE REALISED SO I THINK ITS VALUE CAN ONLY INCREASE.
Grading:
MINT: Brand new condition, no surface marks no deterioration in sound, all paperwork should be in perfect condition
Excellent: The Record shows some signs of being played, there is very little lessening of sound quality. The packaging may have very slight signs of wear and /or creasing.
Very Good: The Record has been played a number of times, but there is no major deterioration in sound quality, despite slight surface marks and the occasional light scratch.
Good; The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps some mild scratches. The cover suffers from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits and discoloration.
Fair: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise. It may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
I add a plus or minus when the item is somewhere between two grades
