PLEASE PLEASE ME GOLD DICK JAMES 1ST PRESS UK 1963.
For sale today is a 1963 GOLD 1ST press of the Beatles' first album, Please Please Me. I have linked an MP3 rip of the entire album as condition is subjective from person to person so this way you can hear the entire record for yourself. Visually, the record has a few hairlines and light scratches which do not affect play under very stong light. The sound itself is magnificent, loud and punchy, with rich detailed sound like all black and gold parlophones from the 60s do. There is very slight background noise between tracks, but otherwise not enought noise to impede whatsoever on the listening experience. The matrix is as follows: XEX 421-1N, XEX 422-1N.
This pressing has VERY EARLY STAMPERS AND MOTHERS: The first side has stamper 1A, meaning the THIRD EVER STAMPER TO BE USED from the FIRST mother. The second side has stamper 1T, meaning the THIRTEENTH stamper from the FIRST mother. This explains the detailed sound: if you listen closesly and turn up the volume, you can even hear the tape splicing between some tracks.
This means the record was between the 3000th and 15000th one pressed. VERY EARLY!
The cover is in lovely condition, barely any creasing or wear. There is very light rubbing above the "MONO" text, as pictured. This sleeve was used from 1963 to March 1964. Whilst being a second issue sleeve, this was the one the record originally came in.
The original EMITEX inner sleeve is in lovely condition too, but I will put the record in a modern audiophile grade sleeve.
Here is the Mp3 rip of the actual record for sale. I used a stereo Grado Red3 cartridge, but it will sound even better on a true mono cartridge!
