Description
Hello and welcome to one of my auctions! I am a record collector for over 15 years now and I think it’s about time to sell a couple records to make some room and pass it on to another collector. This week’s auctions feature my rare Beatles, Beatles Related and Rolling Stones records that are from my own personal collection, so here we go!
On offer, an extremely rare UK 1st MONO pressing of The Beatles – Revolver album on the YELLOW / BLACK Parlophone label, cat. no. PMC 7009. This copy has the XEX 606-1 matrix number on side 2, indicating that Remix 11 of Tomorrow Never Knows was used on this record.
The record is in VG minus condition; there is an edge warp, affecting the first songs on both sides. On my deck, the record played well through, only making a “shh” noise every time needle passed the warp area. Further there are many hairlines and a couple small sounding scratches on both sides. But the most important is that “Tomorrow Never Knows” is undamaged and plays great.
The labels are in G (Good) to VG minus condition; both labels have “bleach traces” and some areas on the yellow PARLOPHONE print have a sort of reddish glow, but the text is still very well legible. Further there is also some wear around the spindle hole.
The cover, an E.J. Day printed one, is in VG condition; besides the normal wear and tear, there is a tiny piece from the bottom missing. Further there is some faint ring wear on the back and some wear on the opening edge on the back.
Although far from mint condition, this is an extremely rare UK first pressing of the Beatles’ Revolver with the withdrawn mix of Tomorrow Never Knows. Most of these copies were immediately withdrawn and destroyed when George Martin stopped the presses to replace Remix 11 of Tomorrow Never Knows by Remix 8. Just how often can you find a copy of this particular album with the XEX 606-1 matrix? Almost all copies are amongst collector nowadays and it’s very hard to obtain one. This is a unique opportunity to complete your life-time Beatles record collection! A must have for all Beatles label collectors! Happy Bidding!
