THE BEATLES

RUBBER SOUL

ORIGINAL 1965 1ST PRESSING -1/ -1 MATRICES

Sleeve:
In Very Good to Very Good Plus condition, retaining its rigidity and structure. The spine is completely intact with clear title text. The edges are smooth with no wear, and the opening side is flat. The lamination is tight and glossy, and the pictorial retains it’s bright contrast. There are two fractions of laminate bubbling near the top edge and a small number of surface crease lines. No tears, no rips or repairs etc. There is light age discolouration to the rear panel. This is the rarer 1st issue sleeve printed and made by Ernest J. Day & Co.

Inner Sleeve: Original EMI tracing inner sleeve completely intact and in Excellent condition, and without any fraying to the top edge where the record is inserted.

The Vinyl: In a Very Good Plus condition. The vinyl has retained a jet-black glossy pressing sheen all over both sides and still gives a mirror-like reflection. With the disc held at various angles it is immediately obvious that the record has been played in moderation, and has been handled correctly. There are no warps, no scuffs, no needle drops, no groove wear, and no scratches. There are some very feint non feel-able hairlines scattered here and there which I had to look hard to find, and only revealed in broad daylight or under bright light, and one or two more obvious non feel-able non sounding small line marks. The vinyl is very clean and has retained a lustre.

The Labels: Excellent Plus condition. Barely any visible play-wear to the spindle perimeter. A few very feint tiny spindle lines on each side.

The Audio: There are no detractions over the audio, barely any discernible deviation from the original audio quality. The audio is fundamentally Excellent or better with a few static tics which are only audible in some of the linking grooves between track changes. The fade-in’s and fade-out’s are quiet, with at the very most there being one or two static type tics in a couple of them. Original warm, clear and lucid sound projection with deep mono bass. No jumps, pops, clicks, skips, background noise, sticks etc. Plays seamlessly throughout and would be difficult to better.
Mothers / Stampers: 4 LO & 2 PL
The quickly discontinued Loud Cut’s were given their name due to the more raw, edgy sound compared to subsequent pressings, as a result of an imbalance in the bass-line.
