This is the UK 1st Press of 'Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band' by The Beatles. The 1st press has the Peter Blake insert, the red and white inner sleeve and the laminated Mono Garrod & Lofthouse with the rare wide white spine, gatefold sleeve. The vinyl has the 1st press 'Sold In UK' and 'Gramophone Company' label text and the earliest XEX 637-1 // 638-1 matrix.
The vinyl is in VERY GOOD condition. The vinyl has a sensational jet black gloss, the grooves show no sign of heavy play at all. There is one small mark on both sides and a few other light wispy hairlines but the vinyl still has a lovely lightly played sheen. The Parlophone label is exceptionally bold and clean. The yellow is bright, the black is solid and the text is sharp. There is only the very slightest spindle wear.
The sound quality is extremely rich, vibrant and bold. There is some occasional light background noise and a couple of clicks om the marks but it is still clear with sharp audio sepapration throughout.
The red and white original inner sleeve has a split on the bottom edge otherwise the edges are firm and the white and red are extremely bright.
It comes complete with the 'Peter Blake' inner in EXCELLENT condition.
The rare wide spine Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold Mono laminated sleeve is in EXCELLENT condition. The laminate has a stunning mirrored shine, the colours are vivid and the whole of the sleeve is completely solid and flat. The only sign of age is a little corner wear and a couple of small laminate creases. The inside gleams like new, the laminate creaks when opened and it is in sensational bright and clean shape. The flipbacks are fully intact and sealed. The spine is very firm with clear text. The back cover is also exceptionally clean and bright.
