Description

THE BEATLES – WHITE ALBUM – MONO - 1G STAMPER – SPACER – EX CONDITION Here is an excellent example of The Beatles 1968 White Album PMC 7067/7068, complete with the poster, four colour portraits and the extremely rare white paper spacer. This item is in overall strong excellent condition, not a 'Mint, archive' artefact, but a solid, well looked after copy that looks great and plays superbly. A detailed description of the individual components follows: SLEEVE: The gatefold sleeve is numbered 0159281. It is in top excellent condition with no creases, rips or laminate lift. It still creaks upon opening! The top openings are straight and in tact with just the slightest bit of wear. The spine has no damage and is perfectly readable. Unlike many well-loved copies, this one is still a nice white colour without the nasty yellowing that affects less well cared for copies. There are some tiny fleck markings to the inside left gatefold that may well be removed with the right cleaning method, however these do not detract from the otherwise excellent condition of the sleeve. VINYL: The discs play through superbly with no jumps, sticks, clicks or loud pops. Even the quiet tracks play with no intrusive crackle on my Thorens turntable fitted with a Goldring cartridge. There are no nasty scratches or marks apart from light wear resulting from removal from the inner-sleeve. The second disc (sides 3 and 4) is the earliest possible pressing with a 1G stamper code on both sides and featuring 'An E.M.I Recording' - disproving that this wording was added only to later pressings. The first disc (sides 1 and 2) have stamper codes of 3PO and 5AL but no 'An E.M.I Recording' on the label. POSTER: The Richard Hamilton designed fine-art poster is complete with no rips, tears, splits creases or pin-holes. Excellent condition. PHOTOS: The four colour portraits by John Kelly are in superb condition and come complete with the incredibly rare white paper spacer, which is solid with no rips and just minor creasing and handling marks. INNER SLEEVE: The bespoke black paper inners are solid with no seem-splits; however both have suffered tears at the die-cut centre hole. For protection, the discs have been re-housed in vintage poly-lined sleeves while the original black inners are supplied separately, alongside the poster. Overall, a fabulous playing copy of this great LP with no major faults that will be a lovely addition to the collection of all but the most fastidious of collectors.
