THE BEATLES

"day tripper / we can work it out"

UK PARLOPHONE DEMO

with "NEWS FLASH"

A beautiful copy of an extremely scarce demonstration copy of this 1965 single.

As I am sure collectors know, these copies with a big letter 'A' on the side to be 'plugged' by radio stations and DJs were pressed and sent out prior to the actual record's release.  The record company would not have pressed that many, perhaps a couple of hundred.  Since most were used as intended, that is to say, played a lot, only a few have survived at all let alone in good condition.  Interestingly, this record has an 'A' on both sides as Parlophone were trying to get as many plays as possible.

This particular copy has survived very well.

The "we can work it out" side  label is very clean.  You will see there is a green sticker at the 4 o'clock position.  This might be able to be removed.  The playing surface is extremely clean and shiny with just a few light surface marks, two of which, run across most of the grooved surface but they are not needle marks but caused by handling.  The audio quality is perfect with only the faintest crackle on the start at the highest volume.

The "day tripper" side  label is again very clean. There is a remnant of a sticker at the 4 o'clock position.  This also might be able to be removed.  The matrix number at the 8 o'clock position has a faint blue line through it.  The playing surface is very clean and has a good shine.  There are a few light surface marks, one visible which, runs across the playing surface at the 4 o'clock position.  It is certainly not a needle mark but caused by handling.  The audio quality is nearly perfect with only the faintest of crackles on the start at high volume.

There is a double bonus with this auction lot!  First, the record is housed in an original "Special Rush Copy" sleeve which were exclusively used at this time for demos (these sleeves alone can cost you £50!).

But, which makes it even scarcer is the original "News Flash" release information.  Dated November 12th 1965 it is printed on to cream paper, 10" X 8".  I can assure you that this is not a modern photocopy as have been offered here before, this is the genuine article!

This is a great opportunity to get this super-rare Beatles single.

As with other rare items I am listing I would like to tell you a little about me to give you confidence in bidding and to assure you that these are absolutely genuine items. I am the managing director of the world famous BEANOS RECORDS and we have had our shops in South London for over 30 years. I write about rare records, appear on TV and Radio and constantly in the National Press. It is BEANOS LIMITED that are selling this most desirable item but I want to be your contact for any queries and, also, to take away the faceless negotiation that an important international auction can sometimes have. I can tell you everything you need to know about this auction lot if you email me with any questions and, you are welcome to visit our shop and view the actual item (by prior appointment) with myself. I have to point out that most of the goods I offer on eBay are also on sale in my shop and I might have to end an auction early if I have another buyer.
