This is an original mono pressing bought in the UK at the time of first release. It is not a reissue.

This has the original numbered top loading cover, original poster, original photos and original black inner sleeves. None of the labels have 'An EMI Recording' on them, and the cover has a very low number.

This has the following 1st press matrix numbers, mothers and stampers (very early on disc two):

Description
Disc: The vinyl has retained its original sheen with some small or light marks visible on each side in normal light and one more-obvious, and slightly feelable mark on side three (see final photo). There are additional fine hairlines and sleeve-removal lines when viewed under bright, direct light. I have played the whole album in full (all four sides all the way through). It generally plays to a high standard with few note-worthy issues, apart from some clicks caused by the mark on side three. Sides one, two and four all play really well with just some background noise in the run-ins/outs, fades, segues, silent grooves and intros and the occasional random click. There were a few brief clicks on side two (about seven in the fade to 'Don't Pass Me By'/intro to 'Why don't we do it in the Road' and about five in the Intro to 'I Will'), and some quiet tics briefly in 'Revolution 9' on side four, but nothing loud or intrusive. I would play-grade these three side as Excellent (Ex), with sides one and four close to Excellent Plus (Ex+). The visible, slightly feelable mark on side three causes some soft clicks that start near the end of 'Mother Nature's Son', which are them mostly drowned out by the music in 'Me and My Monkey' (but they are there if you listen out for them), then audible for about five revolutions at the end of that track and the intro to 'Sexy Sadie' then softly audible, intermittently, then heard as four clicks in the fade and silent groove at the end of that track. They can't be heard at all in 'Helter Skelter'. Later in the side I heard three clicks in 'Long Long Long'. Aside from the clicks caused by the visible mark, side three sounds great, but to allow for the issues mentioned above I would play-grade side three as Very Good Plus (VG+). So, in summary the play-grades for the four sides are: side one a SAFE Excellent (almost Ex+); side two Excellent; side three Very Good Plus (VG+); side four a SAFE Excellent (probably Ex+).

Labels: No tears, stickers, writing etc, just some spindle marking.

Sleeve: The original top-loader, numbered sleeve (with very low number) is sturdy and rigid with no seam splits, tears, writing, stickers etc, but has marks, foxing and age-related discolouration, so it isn't really 'white' any more. There is also some wear to the edges, spine and corners and some minor creases etc.

Inner sleeves: Original black Apple inner sleeves. One has a couple of small seam splits and one has some small tears around the die-cut hole. But aside from this there are no major issues, just normal signs of age and use.

Photos: Original photos have some minor signs of age, but nothing significant.

Poster: Original poster has some small splits on a few of the folds and normal signs of age and handling, but it has never been on a wall so has no major issues.

Where gradings are given these are based on the UK Record Collector grading system (see below) and are visual gradings only, unless the listing specifically states that it is a play-grading.

I use the UK RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM. This grading system differs from some other grading systems, in particular the Goldmine grading system. Please make sure that you are familiar with the UK record collector grading system before you bid.

Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packag­ing might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable sur­face marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

Fair: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for prop­erly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

Poor: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

Plus (+) or Minus (-) are added where items fall between gradings. I only ever use one plus or minus.
