HELLO AND WELCOME TO MY AUCTION
FOR
The Beatles - The Beatles
(Better known as 'The White Album')
PMC 7607 & 7608 (Mono)
1968
Here we have a very collectable offering from the Beatles - an original mono recording of 'The White Album' with a highly prized low number. ie: 0013702
2 x 160gram discs
2 x original black inner sleeves
Fully laminated G&L outer with end flipbacks and embossed 'The BEATLES'
4 x glossy colour photos
Multi picture poster with lyrics on the reverse
All four sides show some light lines and/or scuffs. However the overall playback quality is not far short of excellent. Side 4 is probably the worst and this only has some occasional light crackle (generally in quiet sections and dead wax) and a few low volume clicks. The other 3 sides have sporadic quiet background as described above. .....nothing to spoil the overall listening experience. (Obviously, sound grading is somewhat subjective and I can only hope that you agree with my appraisal). As you can see from the pics, it has retained a very good sheen. Both discs lie nice and flat on the turntable and play through with no jumps, repeats, etc.
The dark green 'Apple' labels are clean and crisply coloured. Only fault is numerous spindle marks, which aren't particularly noticeable. No stickers, initials etc. They are all the earliest variety without the 'EMI recording' text on the left hand side and no KT stamp.
The black paper inners look to be originals. One has some taped tears and the other is virtually intact with a few creases. Easily replaced...but that's not the same is it?
The top opening G&L outer is in excellent condition all round. It has yellowed a little with the passing of time but bears no splits, tears, stains, stickers etc. Good strong spine and intact flipbacks. Internally very clean and shiny. Only real fault is a few barely noticable laminate creases and minimal corner bumping.
The 4 full colour glossy photos are all in excellent condition without any creases, tears etc.
The giant fold out poster is also in excellent condition with only a couple of areas where the folds have worn right through.
These are the run-off details (as far as I can make out - don't take these as 100%):-
Side 1. XEX709-1 1 G G H
Side 2. XEX710-2 3 G G L
Side 3. XEX711-1 1 G P
Side 4. XEX712-1 1 G P
So, to sum up.........low number, earliest labels, good playback, heavy vinyl, great inserts,
great sleeve
NOT MINT, BUT STILL A TRULY FINE ADDITION TO ANY COLLECTION
As everyone has their own preferred cleaning method, vinyl is sent un-cleaned
