Description
Original top opening UK mono copy of "The Beatles" double album, also known as the "White Album" released in November 1968 on Apple PMC7067/8. Complete with the black inner sleeves, the four photographs and the poster. Numbered on the front cover '0024255'. The four record labels omit the "An EMI Recording" confirming this to be one of the first pressings.
The gatefold sleeve shows some light ringwear, scratch marks and scuffing along the spine the top openings. There is no writing anywhere on this album.
The delicate black inner sleeves are intact except for a couple of minor tears around the centre hole of one.
The four photographs are in near pristine condition. The poster has some marks to the rear where tape has been removed.
The labels are clean and with only light 'spider' marks. The "An EMI Recording" statement does not appear on any of the four labels.
The vinyl does have numerous surface marks. But having been pressed on heavy duty vinyl these only produce the occasional 'pop' or 'crackle'. There is absolutely no jumping or sticking of the stylus on playing it through.
The matrix numbers and stampers are XEX709-1 L1G, XEX710-1, 7 LG, XEX711-1 1 GT and XEX712-1 7 TW on sides 1 to 4 respectively.
As you collectors probably already know, it is essential to own both the stereo and the mono versions of the "White Album" as almost every track has some variation between the two pressings. By the time of this album's release the stereo version vastly outsold the mono version making it far rarer and more collectable. Given this copy's low number of 0024255 it is highly collectable and desirable.
