A wonderful condition copy of this increasingly hard to find and sought after 1969 UK 1st press Beatles gem on the dark green Apple label, STEREO PCS 7070

The dead wax matrix numbers are :

Side 1    XEX 715 - 1  with stampers "1" and "H" at 4 o'clock and 2 o'clock respectively 

Side 2    XEX 716 - 1  with stampers "1" and "L" at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock respectively

GRADINGS :

RECORD (Visual Grade / Condition Grade) :  Excellent plus (EX+) / Excellent (EX) Completely flat  vinyl with beautiful jet black sheen on both sides. Glossy in normal daylight and it is only with close scrutiny under a bright light that just a few fine hairlines on both sides and some very, very minor "shadowing" on side 2 come into view - nothing feelable and all  purely superficial. Very impressive, especially considering that this record is now a 51 year old antiquity!

LABELS : Excellent plus (EX+) with the darker green (unique to first pressings) apple and black text all beautifully intact. Note the "An E.M.I Recording and "Mfd. In U.K." texts on each label - further 1st pressing identifiers. Just a few faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each label, otherwise perfect.

OUTER SLEEVE : Excellent+ (EX+) : Garrod & Lofthouse front side laminated with reverse side flipbacks, with no cardboard creasing, firm edges with no scuffing (remarkable!); corners remain perfectly defined right angles with no rubbing, no ring wear or age discolouration, no unwanted writing or doodles - superb! The spine is in near perfect condition with all text remaining perfectly intact, the opening edges are rigid with no fraying, and the reverse side is in wonderful condition with the three flipbacks in great shape. And, of course, note two horizontal red lines on the reverse side which again are UK 1st pressing identifiers. All of the front side art work and wonderful colouring remain in crisp, rich and crystal clear condition. The condition of the outer sleeve really is hard to fault.

INNER SLEEVE : Original plain black single side die-cut inner sleeve with no rips, seam splits, creasing, discolouration or edge fraying, just two very small (1cm or less) edge nicks - one on the top edge and another on the outer circumference of the die-cut...brilliant! NOTE that I will place the record into a plain white inner sleeve (and separate from the outer sleeve) in order to protect the original inner sleeve during posting.

AUDIO QUALITY : Excellent plus (EX+) throughout. Great tone and clarity throughout even at higher volume and higher frequencies. No jumps, repeats, intrusive clicks and barely any background crackle/interference. You might come across an occasional very low level, light background click but close inspection under a bright light reveals no obvious cause, so on the odd occasion that this does occur (if at all) I can only put it down to dust in the groove through decades of storage. There is nothing here to impinge upon the wonderful stereo sound quality - sit back and enjoy!

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl thick cardboard "crucifix" style mailer along with at least two thick cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in separating the record from the outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.

Mint

The records itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items, such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.

Very Good

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Fair

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents are torn, stained and/or defaced

Poor

The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents are badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler
