1969/USA/Decca Records DL 75039…..here’s a nice clean pressing of their rarer 2nd lp. The cover is in the shrink and in Excellent condition with a delete hole top left corner under the old price sticker that is affixed to the shrink. The cover is otherwise solid with no splits. The vinyl is in strong glossy excellent to M- condition with a light storage stain/blemish on either side, otherwise the record looks new with a nice deep shine. The record has been seldom played and plays clean with slight crackle between the odd track and plays with clean fidelity. The labels are clean. Includes the original inner sleeve that has a small bottom center seam split, otherwise it's fine. A gorgeous copy of this rare lp! KEEPER COPY!! What set The Cake apart from other girl groups of the time is that they recorded their own material, as well as a number of R&B standards. Their own songs were in the vein of 1960s baroque pop with intricate madrigal-style vocal harmonies. They released two albums on Decca Records,The Cake (1967) and A Slice Of Cake (1968). Both were recorded at the Gold Star Recording Studios in Los Angeles.

GRADING

MINT: I consider only New Unplayed or Sealed items.

NM or M- or Mint Minus is the same to me, very clean with clean visual appearance and sound, there may be a couple of light inaudible hairline scuffs or such and will be mentioned in the listing, a Mint- record looks and plays clean. Same for the cover. Very clean with no delete or other issues.

EXCELLENT: still very collectable for most, visually and sonicly clean. A handful of light inaudible scuffs, or hairlines. Cover will be clean with little wear, or delete. No splits.

VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal wear, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have a few minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much. Cover will have slight shelf wear, and or delete, minor split.

VG+ the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches. If I list a rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects.
