Issued in the UK by CBS Records in 1977, engineered by CBS staff engineer Simon Humphrey and produced by Clash live soundman Mickey Foote, at the (now-razed) CBS Whitfield Street Studio No. 3.
This first album by the Clash was unusually musically varied for a punk band, with reggae and early rock and roll influences plainly evident.
Most of the album was conceived on the 18th floor of a council high rise on London's Harrow Rd, in a flat that was rented by Jones' grandmother, who frequently went to see their live concert.
The album was recorded over three weekend sessions at CBS Studio 3 in early February 1977. By the third of these sessions the album was recorded and mixed to completion, with the tapes being delivered to CBS at the start of March. It cost just £4000 to produce.

Never Mind the Bollocks may have appeared revolutionary, but the Clash's eponymous debut album was pure, unadulterated rage and fury, fuelled by passion for both rock & roll and revolution.
Though the cliché about punk rock was that the bands couldn't play, the key to the Clash is that although they gave that illusion, they really could play — hard.
The charging, relentless rhythms, primitive three-chord rockers, and the poor sound quality give the album a nervy, vital energy.
Joe Strummer's slurred wails perfectly compliment the edgy rock, while Mick Jones' clearer singing and charged guitar breaks make his numbers righteously anthemic.
...and the power is all the more incredible today - rock & roll is rarely as edgy, invigorating, and sonically revolutionary as this

VINYL Audio: CRYSTAL CLEAR, DEEP, RICH AND SHARP AUDIO - VERY CLEAN PRESSING which SUPERB SOUND. On playback at a LOUD volume there are NO scratches, NO jumps/sticks, NO surface noise and NO clicks/pops. GREAT COPY which plays to the highest possible standard with NO groove-wear and NO distortion and graded MINT for audio
SLEEVE: The matte cover is SHARP and FRESH with practically NO wear to speak of on either the edges or spine - where all text is CLEAR and BOLD. A couple of minor light creases to the spine are the only thing reducing the grading to a NEAR MINT
