THE COCTEAU TWINS - HEAVEN OR LAS VEGAS

A beautiful condition copy of this increasingly hard to find and sought after 1990 UK 1st press Cocteau Twins ethereal rock gem, on the 4AD record label, CAD 0012

The dead wax matrix numbers are :

Side 1    CAD 0012 A1  and "MPO" (all etched)

Side 2    CAD 602 B5 and "MPO" (all etched) 

GRADINGS :

RECORD (Visual Grade / Condition Grade) :  Near Mint (NM) / Excellent plus (EX+)  Hard to fault. Gleaming with jet black sheen, no hairlines or scuffs, even when viewed under a bright light. Virtually unmarked (if you look very closely under a bright light you may just be able to detect the odd very, very light paper scuff but this is very trivial) and excellent plus condition vinyl. Obviously very sparingly played.

LABELS : Near Mint (NM). Pristine, in fact - no marks at all.

OUTER SLEEVE : Excellent plus (EX+) : A solid excellent plus with firm edges, perfect right-angled corners with minimal rubbing and no edge scuffing apart from just a few very light scuff marks on top edge. No creasing or spine flattening. and the opening edges remain firm also, with no fraying. Just the merest of some very, very faint ring wear towards the top edges, no age discolouration - a delight! Vibrant, crisp colouring and art work still pristine, with no unwanted writing. Brilliant!

INNER SLEEVE : Excellent plus (EX+) : Would be perfect if not for a single, non-obvious 3cm split in the middle of one side. Beautiful crisp, clear colours and art work. NOTE : I will use a separate plain white inner sleeve for shipping purposes in order to protect the original.

AUDIO QUALITY : Near Mint (NM) : Stunning tone and clarity throughout with superb sound quality. No repeats, jumps, sticks, or background crackle at all - just two very light, innocuous background clicks on side 1 - no obvious reason, no doubt due either to static or dust in the grooves through years of storage. Every track makes for clean, great listening. Clearly this record has been very sparingly played. Surely the Twin's finest effort.

In summary an absolutely brilliant condition copy of this increasingly hard to find 1990 very 1st UK press Cocteau Twins ethereal/ambient/gothic rock gem (surely their finest album) - a worthy addition to any serious vinyl collection and only continuing to gain in value.

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl thick cardboard "crucifix" style mailer along with at least two thick cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in separating the record from the outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.

Mint

The records itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items, such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.

Very Good

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Fair

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents are torn, stained and/or defaced

Poor

The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents are badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler

Interestingly, it has come to light that this is the rarer Made In England for sale in the Netherlands version, since the label and sleeve referencing is "Cad" as opposed to "CAD" and the run-out matrix lacks the x after A1.
