Notes – yet another great RARE 7" from the Stiff back catalogue - long deleted.
The first and the original - the Damned were the first to release a true punk 45 in the UK, beating the Sex Pistols by just a few days as Stiff pulled out all of the stops to hit the shops first - and this was the result - and far superior in many ways to the Pistols 'Anarchy' as a first offering - who can forget the opening line of 'Is she really going out with him' followed by the thunderous drumming from Rat Scabies - awesome!
The irrepressible Fun band who also released the first punk album called 'Damned Damned Damned' - again the rush to issue meant that the first few hundred albums were issued with the wrong picture on the back - Eddie & The Hot Rods appearing instead of The Damned. The follow-up album was called 'Music For Pleasure', and wasn't as strong as the debut album, but still went a long way to firmly establish the band as top punks with the Pistols. The original line-up was probably the best - Dave Vanian - vocals, Brian James - guitar, Captain Sensible - bass, Rat Scabies - drums. Dave Vanian went on to sing with the Doctors of Madness for a short while, Brian James went on to form Tanz Der Youth, Captain Sensible (Ray Burns) released a single called 'Jet Boy Jet Girl', and Rat Scabies (Chris Miller) joined the White Cats.

CONDITION - The vinyl is in Mint condition – and the sleeve is in Mint condition. Unplayed.
(Record Collector gradings).
The all important labels are in superb condition. There is no writing or other blemishes, the text is striking and clearly legible with NO fading, they are as pristine as the day they left the factory. The spindle is clean with no evidence of wear and show no signs of visible playing.
Many copies of this 7” when released were taken to parties and played endlessly, often scratched until they were unplayable. This copy however has never been played and loved.
The vinyl is in great condition and free from any marks or blemishes.
The most outstanding aspect of this copy is the Mint condition of the record. Fantastic factory shine. This 7” has clearly been loved and treasured by a keen collector. The quality of the record and sleeve is astounding, especially with its 31 year vintage, which is astounding in itself.
The sleeve is the original Stiff Records.
This 7” is deleted and is becoming increasingly rare, especially in this condition.
