THE FLAMING LIPS In A Priest Driven Ambulance LP Autographed by the band, with jokes!
Original 1990 Restless Records on violet mix colored vinyl!
The story: The Flaming Lips did an afternoon in-store performance at Northern Lights record store in Minneapolis, MN on Dec. 6, 1993, before their concert that night at First Avenue, a block away. I believe they said it was their first ever in-store performance, and they decorated the store with their own lighting and Christmas whatnot. The band was ecstatic and the in-store performance later ended up being released on their Providing Needles For Your Balloons CD EP (1994). They stuck around and talked to everyone for quite awhile, so much so that I had my Transmissions CD signed by all 4 members, and this LP as well. They were so friendly and each member later circled back to me and were writing goofy responses to each other on the jacket.
Autographs explained:
- Ronald joked with a speech bubble coming from outside the cover: "Hi, I'm new. Ronald Jones" [He didn't appear on this 1990 album and later left the band in 1996]
- Michael speech bubble: "Me too" [He was a new member too.]
- Michael: "Hey Jason. Michael Ivins"
- Steven: "Happy Death Man" in drawn heart
- Steven wrote across Wayne's image: "Wayne Mapplethorpe" [referring to photographer Robert Mapplethorpe]
- Wayne Coyne: "MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYDAY - LOVE WAYNE"
- Steven drew a moustache and nose on former member Jonathan Donahue's face and speech bubble: "I'M GAY"
- Wayne: "I (heart) JASON" [on the back of the jacket]
