Columbia RECORDS CS 8786 CANADIAN FIRST PRESSING. ALBUM IS VG++ with clean labels, See my grading scale below. This copy has a ONLY a few light scuffs - nice clean copy. Matrix numbers are Side 1 - XSM-58719-3AK, Side 2 - XSM-58720-2C.
SLEEVE IS NEAR MINT- still in shrink. Sleeve is 2nd issue- see note below as this record is mentioned in the Dylan website "Searching for a gem as it has the first pressing LP with the Second issue cover:
"The front sleeve of the first Canadian release of Freewheelin' Columbia CS 8786 had in error the withdrawn track listing. However, the record inside was the regular release. The rear sleeve had the revised track listing but with only 12 songs listed, omitting Don't Think Twice, It's All Right even though it was on the album. Hans Seegers' record has red Columbia labels with black "STEREO/360º SOUND" text and stamped matrix numbers: Side 1 - XSM-58719-3AA, Side 2 - XSM-58720-2C.
The second release of this album came in a sleeve that was almost identical to that of the first release. It now has "LITHO IN CANADA" on the spine, so the vertical text at front bottom left is shorter. The record now has red Columbia record labels with white "STEREO/360º SOUND", the same as the second US release labels. The bottom text of the record labels is different, instead of "PRINTED IN CAN." it has "MANUFACTURED BY COLUMBIA RECORDS OF CANADA". Gerd Rundel's second release copy comes in this sleeve without stickers and the record has stamped matrix numbers: Side 1 - XSM-58719-3AK, Side 2 - XSM-58720-2C. Gerd also has a copy of Columbia CS 8786 with two different labels - Side 1 has the first release label with black "STEREO/360º SOUND" text while Side 2 has the second release label with the same text in white. The sleeve is again the same as Bill Matthews' described below except for a record store label. The record again has stamped matrix numbers: Side 1 - XSM-58719-3AK, Side 2 - XSM-58720-2C. Rick Craddock has a copy in the second release sleeve where both sides of the record have labels with black "STEREO/360º SOUND" text! The record yet again has stamped matrix numbers: Side 1 - XSM-58719-3AK, Side 2 - XSM-58720-2C. My guess is that Columbia Canada staff were not fussy about which design of labels they stuck on records while they were in the process of changing over from first design to second design labels and still had old stock left!"
SHIPPING:
DO NOT PAY BEFORE GETTING INVOICE WITH ACTUAL SHIPPING COST
Records are shipped via Canada Post.
$16 to CANADA / $16.00 to USA / $30 to Europe, Japan / This is the cost to send without a tracking number which I do not recommend for this rare item. I would suggest sending with a tracking number but cost will increase. If you choose to ship without tracking number , it is at your risk.
All records are strictly graded and come with a 100% money back guarantee. All records are original, first pressings unless otherwise noted. If the record is an LP, EP or has a picture sleeve, the record is graded first, followed by the cover or sleeve.
Grading is based on the following criteria
Mint = store stock new
Mint- = near new with only one or two small insignificant defects
VG++ = extremely nice. Would be Mint-, except for a couple of light scratches or scuffs, which do not affect play
VG+ = a nice, but used record that may have a series of light scuffs or scratches. It probably plays with a few pops, but has no serious problems.
VG = a well-used record that still sounds OK when played, but may have moderate surface noise, pops, etc.
VG- = a very well-worn record that plays through without skipping, but will do until a better copy comes along.
