THE GUN ''GUN'' (DEBUT ALBUM) 1ST UK PRESSING CAT NO. S 63552 ON THE ORIGINAL CBS RECORDS LABELS 'A1' and 'B1' EARLIESTMATRIX ENDINGS! VIRTUALLY UNPLAYED NEAR MINT VINYL!! STUNNING MINT AUDIO THROUGHOUT!

 ORIGINAL E.DAY & CO PRINTED COVER IN EX PLUS CONDITION!! VERY RARELY EVEN SEEN LIKE THIS! HIGHLY COLLECTABLE 39 YEAR OLD PROG ALBUM, IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND LIKE THIS!!!

Another from my personal collection! An original 1st UK pressing of the awesome band The Gun's debut album over 39 years old! The vinyl is stunning and in near mint condition there is not a blemish on the playing surface and boasts of only ever been played three or four times ever! The original 1st press E.Day &co printed cover is in at least excellent plus condition! The important thing is that the audio is as good as it gets in any format my opinion, a true collectors item!!

Very important note! The vinyl has always been stored seperately from the cover and sleeve , this is how i have always stored my records!! 

The Gun were a little-known 60s British acid rock progressive phsych band who evolved into the 70s progressive hard rock trio Baker Gurvitz Army! Until recently I have noticed the increase of interest in this awesome fairly obsure band, their output was just two albums during 1968 and 1969. Rarely do you see this 39 year old album for sale in this awesome top condition!!!.

The Gun began as The Knack, formed in 1963 by guitarist/vocalist Paul Gurvitz (born Paul Anthony Curtis, 6 July 1947, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire; he was known by the surname Curtis until the early 1970s. Thereafter he adopted his family's actual surname, Gurvitz!!!.

The Knack changed its name with the development of a psychedelic style in the spring/summer of 1967, performing] at the final UFO Club concerts with bands such as Pink Floyd, Arthur Brown, [[Tomorrow]. Recording sessions at Olympic Studios produced the unreleased single "Light On The Wall"!!.

In November, 1967 they made recordings for the BBC's newest flagship alternative music radio programme, Top Gear and twice played in the air. Soon to expand into a sextet, with Paul's younger brother Adrian, then they were consisting as a power trio of Paul Curtis as bassist, Adrian Curtis (Adrian Gurvitz) as guitarist/vocalist (he also wrote all music and lyrics of The Gun), and drummer Louie Farrell (born Brian John Farrell, 8 December 1947, Goodmayes, Essex; he joined The Knack in mid 1966) to release two albums after being signed to CBS Records in early 1968!!.

The band scored a minor hit with the opening track from their self-titled album (1968), "Race With The Devil" issued as a single in October 1968. A fan of this hard rocking song, Jimi Hendrix performed it at the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970!, although no recordings appear to exist. Unfortunately they were unable to score any other hits, despite other singles such as "Drives You Mad". Their debut album is also noteworthy for the awesome cover art, this album cover art work was done by artist Roger Dean!. Their second album, Gunsight (1969 included tracks such as, "Long Haired Wildman" and "Drown Yourself In The River". However the lack of schlagers led to the band's end leaving the Curtis (now as Gurvitz) brothers free to go to work in Three Man Army in 1971 and later, in 1974-1976 with Ginger Baker, the former drummer for Cream, as The Baker Gurvitz Army! !.

"Race With The Devil" has been covered by Judas Priest (on the remastered CD version of Sin After Sin), Black Oak Arkansas (on the album Race With The Devil) and Girlschool (on the album Demolition)!.

The Vinyl

There is only one word for this original heavy thick and chunky slab of vinyl and this is 'stunning'! Even in strong light I can't see a blemish! Any marks that could possibly be seen would be sleeve removal only (to be honest I can't see any! Unbeleivable for a 39 year old vinyl) The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable! This vinyl weighs 150 grams (only found like this on the earliest press!! 

The Audio Quality

I have played this through at loud volume on a top system! The audio is as good as it gets in my opinion,, absolutely perfect on all frequencies! (no) clicks or pops and certainly no skips or jumps the audio is graded as near mint!!! Stunning audio seperation!

The record sleeve

This is the original plain white paper cover as new condition! The UK patent nos are printed on one side!! (no) splits or tares and no staining with age!!

The Cover

This is the laminated front\unlaminated rear E.Day&co printed cover must grade at least excellent to excellent plus! Super glossy appearance with (no) splits or tares no nasty names or marks! There is one minor laminate crease at the front top left corner only worth to mention this is very strong and straight a superbe example! Important note! The vinyl has always been seperated from the cover and sleeve which has helped keep this cover in awesome condition like this! Must be at least excellent to excellent plus! Note the awesome cover artwork done by artist Roger Dean! Very collectable indeed!!!
