Vinyl: VG+ Scuff to track 2, Side 1 which causes one click only. Otherwise the surfaces are very quiet. Deep groove pressing.
Labels: VG+ Previous owner has written 'side 1' on...side 1. No spindlewear.
This is a beautifully-preserved copy of a rare & hard-to-find album on the UK's most collectable modern jazz label.
The Jazz Five- Vic Ash (ten)/ Harry Klein (bar)/ Brian Dee (pno)/ Malcolm Cecil (bs)/ Bill Eyden or Tony Mann (dms)- was formed just after the break-up of the Jazz Couriers, & indeed included some of its ex-members, though they never achieved the popularity of the Hayes-Scott quintet.
If you only think of Vic Ash as a clarinet player, you'll be surprised by the drive of his tenor playing; this is a great album of powerful British modern jazz.
