THE MATTY MATLOCK STORY Rare 1950's Jazz Music Show on Two AFRTS 16" Radio Transcription Discs
"Matty" Matlock was an American Dixieland jazz clarinettist, saxophonist and arranger born in 1907 in Paducah, Kentucky. In 1958 he and his band The Paducah Patrol released a Jazz Album called "The Dixieland Story". This program showcases that album and features rare and exclusive interviews with Matty Matlock and Andy Mansfield about the album. We also get a first hand history lesson in early Jazz music from a guy that actually lived it. From 1929 to 1934 Matlock replaced Benny Goodman in the Ben Pollack band doing arrangements and performing on clarinet. From 1935 to 1942 Matty joined Bob Crosby in whose band he was the featured clarinetist and also a saxophonist.
This one hour 1950'S Armed Forces radio show tells the complete story of this amazing Jazz musician through rare and exclusive interviews. The show is hosted and narrated by noted Jazz Historian and Record Collector Andy Mansfield and was part of the AFRTS radio series called "America's Popular Music". This is show number 243 in the series.
These two 16" Radio Transcriptions are in Excellent condition with only one small visible scratch. These discs sound great and are still very glossy. They are not warped or chipped and play fine. Each Radio Transcription disc has two 30 minute radio shows, so you get a total of 2 hours of great entertainment from the Golden Age of Radio. The pictures supplied are of the labels of discs being offered.
